A warning about a salmonella outbreak that's apparently linked to pre-cut melons that were sold at Walmart and other stores in the Midwest.

Six people are sick in IL, 11 in IN, 32 in MI, 10 in Missouri and one in Ohio.

About 60 people in five states, including five in IN, were sickened by the fruit, the health department said. Caito Foods voluntarily recalled fresh-cut honeydew melon, cantaloupe and fresh-cut mixed fruit containing one of these melons on Friday. Recalled products were sold in clear, plastic clamshell containers at Costco, Jay C, Kroger, Payless, Owen's, Sprouts, Trader Joe's, Walgreens, Walmart, and Whole Foods/Amazon.

Most of those affected said they bought the fruit at Kroger or Walmart stores.

Six cases reported in IL matched a multi-state outbreak strain, IDPH said. "If you have recently purchased pre-cut melon from Walmart, throw it out".
