Cuba Marks World Health Day with Great Achievements

The WHO is celebrating the World Health Day this year on April 7 with the theme "Universal health coverage: everyone, everywhere" and slogan "Health for All".

First celebrated in the year 1950, this day also marks the establishment of World Health Organization. every year there is a specific theme and variety of programs are being conducted or organized on global and national levels.

It was in 1948, the WHO held the First World Health Assembly.

Moeti, who was represented by the WHO Country Representative, Dr. Wondi Alemu, said: "Today, I call on political leaders in Africa to live up to the SDG pledges they made in 2015, and to commit to concrete actions".

UHC is not only about medical treatment for individuals, but also includes services for whole populations such as public health campaigns - for example adding fluoride to water or controlling the breeding grounds of mosquitoes that carry viruses that can cause disease.
