He was an FA Cup victor with Manchester United in 1983, scoring a memorable goal in the 2-2 draw with Brighton (United won the replay) and was a Scottish title victor with Rangers in 1989.

Rio Ferdinand recalled watching Wilkins in his Queen's Park Rangers days, where he played between 1989 and 1996. Full of kindness and humility, with impeccable manners at all times.
