'I'm not a crisis actor': Florida school shooting survivor dismisses conspiracy theories

A second shared post goes farther, trafficking in the same kind of conspiracy theory last seen in the wake of the Sandy Hook killings.

First uploaded on Tuesday, the video claimed that student David Hogg, 17, from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School was a paid actor and suggesting that he attends crisis events for publicity.

Still, there's now a growing social media backlash against him.

The false assertion, which has rocketed around the Internet, has even cost an aide to a Florida state representative his job.

As the theories gain momentum through social media, they filter upwards to people with higher profiles, including media columnists, right-wing influencers and, in this case, the USA president's own son. "They ARE HERE!" Others focused on chemtrails, a conspiracy theory favorite of InfoWars creator Alex Jones.

"David Hogg Can't Remember His Lines When Interviewed for Florida school shooting". Some cite a previous viral news story as proof of his acting ability, but David says his composure in interviews comes from having a FBI Agent as a father. The mugshot reveals a 26-year-old arrested in SC with the same name, and a very similar identity to the Parkland student. Their goal is to role-play disaster victims in emergency drills to train first responders practicing for real emergency procedures.

"You can't stop us you never will and you never can we have the strength and grit to last far longer than these politicians will that's for damn sure", Hogg tweeted Wednesday morning, adding the hashtag #MidtermsAreComing and #NeverAgain.

The company said in a statement that its system "misclassified" the video because it "contained footage from an authoritative news source".

"As soon as we became aware of the video, we removed it from Trending and from YouTube for violating our policies", the YouTube spokesperson confirmed. We are KIDS working to prevent this from happening again.

Household cleaning products may harm lung function in women

Conspiracy theorists have latched on to a CBS news video of Hogg in Los Angeles from 2017 as evidence that the teen might be a plant.

"I'm not a crisis actor", Hogg told CNN's Anderson Cooper on "AC360" Tuesday. "Am I an actor? No".

"The fact that these people are being critical of me as a witness and personally as a victim.it's unbelievable", Hogg said before arguing that students at his high school showed more maturity than some elected officials.

But it wasn't just nameless internet trolls pushing these insane claims.

One of the two tweets "liked by Donald Trump, Jr". Trump tweeted on Feb 17.

The conspiracy theories have spilled into the ranks of government, too.

A survivor of the Florida shooting has denied he is a "crisis actor" after Donald Trump Jr appeared to endorse an article which labelled the student a "Trump-hater". "In addition, previous year we updated the application of our harassment policy to include hoax videos that target the victims of these tragedies".

"David Hogg didn't attend #Parkland high school", the Twitter user wrote. Still more claim he is actually from California, NOT Florida.
