Microsoft Photos Companion app launched

A couple of months ago, we reported that Microsoft seems to be preparing to release a Photos app for the mobile device that will make it easier for users to transfer their photos to a desktop. The Photos Companion app uses Wi-Fi connectivity on your phone and PC to establish a connection to transfer and your devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. And, of course, it only works on Windows 10 and only if the two communicating devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. other than that, however, there is little else that needs to be done to get your photos off your phone and into your computer.

The app will allow you to quickly sync photos between your mobile device and your Windows 10 PC.

Have you been facing issue while transferring your photos to your Windows PC? The new app is available immediately, and it's being released as part of Microsoft's Garage project which lets employees release experimental apps.

Using Photos Companion is pretty quick when compared to OneDrive. Also, if in case the Import from mobile over Wi-Fi option is not visible in the Photos app on your Windows computer, you need to enable the Show additional preview features option that is available in the Settings section of the Photos app.
