The Ayodhya Sadbhavna Samnvyay Maha Samiti had made a proposal to the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on the dispute.

"We are public spirited citizens from various walks from life and across the length and breadth of India who feel it is critical as a commitment to the foundational value contained in this Constitution, to intervene and inject urgency and a sane voice in this dispute", they argued in their petition.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice S Abdul Nazeer, also said trat the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit is a "pure land dispute".

The Supreme Court is likely to resume hearing on a batch of cross petitions against the Allahabad High Court verdict in the Ayodhya Ram janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case on Thursday. Whatever the decision, no party should view it as its victory or loss in the case, said the statement.

The Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court had ruled in favour of partitioning the land equally among three parties-the Sunni Waqf Board, Nirmohi Akhara and the "Ram Lalla" (infant Lord Ram), represented by the Hindu Mahasabha.

Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Uttar Pradesh Government, told the Bench that 504 exhibits, including scriptures such as the Ram Charit Manas and the Bhagavad Gita, their excerpts and 87 depositions along with the translations had been filed.

The top court had asked the advocates on records (AoRs), dealing with as many 14 civil appeals against the 2010 judgement of the Allahabad high court in the land dispute, to ensure that all requisite documents are translated, filed and numbered before the apex court Registry.

The bench also expressed its reservation on hearing the matter on day-to-day basis and said, once the matter will start it will go on in normal course.

"The High Court's verdict is an insult to justice", Dhawan said. "Devoting one-and-half hour every day will help in disposing of these cases", the bench said.
