Hot air balloon crash kills tourist in Luxor, Egypt

One person was killed and 12 other people were injured when a hot air balloon carring about 20 people crashed near Egypt's ancient city of Luxor on Friday, a health ministry official said.

At least seven people were also injured in the accident and have been hospitalised.

Luxor governor Mahmoud Badr confirmed the incident, adding that he visited the injured tourists who are now being treated at hospital, according to the BBC, citing AFP.

According to the reports, the incident was caused by strong winds.

This was exacerbated by the 2015 Russian plane crash, which killed all 224 passengers and crew on board, majority Russian tourists. The injured included tourists from Spain, South Africa and Argentina.
