Instagram Will Now Add "Recommended" Posts

According to reports, the feature was spotted while still in development and it seems that the social media giant has achieved refining the algorithm needed to pull off the recommended feature.

This is being perceived as a big change made by Instagram. But previously, you'd have to head to the Explore section to see recommended posts and videos - they wouldn't be pushed to your home feed. You can choose to temporarily hide Recommended for You posts. The section will also be clearly labeled so that it's not confused with the normal home feed. "It means users scrolling through their home feed will now no longer only see posts from accounts they directly follow alongside the ads", a report by Tech Crunch claims. Instagram users would have to select the "Explore" section in order to view all the recommended posts on the platform. However, fans are expecting to have more information in the coming months. However, the addition of recommended content on the home feed is perhaps one of the biggest changes since the platform chose to switch its feed from chronological to algorithmic. Earlier this month, the platform launched an update that allows users to follow hashtags. "Hiding" the posts will not permanently remove them from the main feed but it will hide them until the user has gone through all of the posts from accounts they are actually following. It is not clear as to what Instagram's goal might be in the recently released features. In early December, the social media platform rolled out testing for their "Recommended for You" section. After all, even with the "recommended posts" feature, the posts you care about from the accounts you follow will always be available on your feed.
