Comedian Hannibal Buress arrested for disorderly intoxication

Popular comedian Hannibal Buress was arrested early Sunday in Miami on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly intoxication.

Despite being told that he was being arrested for trespassing, Burress, who was booked into a Miami-Dade jail at 1:57 a.m., was never charged for that alleged crime.

In cell phone footage of the encounter, Buress can be seen refusing to get into a Miami police vehicle while handcuffed. He screams at the officers, "Am I under arrest? For what? ... Explain what I'm detained for", Buress can be heard asking.

Buress again asks "what am I being detained for?"

Hello Billy, Mr. Buress was arrested for disorderly intoxication, on December 9, 2017, at approximately 10:30 p.m. The Herald reports that the incident began when Buress asked a nearby police officer to call him an Uber. Take the handcuffs off of me, I didn't do anything. Wynwood is the site of numerous events related to Art Basel, an annual arts fair that attracts numerous celebrities to the city. The arrest spawned the Twitter hashtag "Free Hannibal Buress".

A Herald reporter was told by Miami Police that arrest reports are only released during regular business hours. The officer says he refused, which caused Hannibal to become angry and belligerent. The officer went inside to get Buress because he felt the comedian was too drunk to stay around. This year he was featured in the films "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Baywatch".

Buress is best remembered for a 2014 stand up routine that made reference to persistent allegations of sexual misconduct against Bill Cosby.
