Tencent to act as exclusive Chinese publisher for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

Last month, China's content regulator said that South Korean developer Blue Hole's hottest-selling title of 2017 "severely deviates from socialist core values" and would likely be prohibited from sale in the country.

PUBG Corp is planning to perform a stable game service such as the expansion of the server and enhancement of anti-hacking programs, through the contract with Tencent, the company which has been successfully developing and servicing a diversity of major online games.

Tencent winning its bid to officially release the title over in China does come with the condition that it does not break these values.

Tencent has been fighting recently for the right to publish PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in China, but previously had been on shaky ground.

Tencent will operate the game in the region.

"(Tencent) will make adjustment to content. and make sure they accord with socialist core values, Chinese traditional culture and moral rules", it said in a statement on Wednesday.

Tencent has also promised that it is reworking the game specifically for the Chinese audience. However, before this could happen, it seems a few changes to the game will have to be made. "We will do our best to present a great game to the Chinese users in close cooperation with the company". "We will also offer a different, fun experience on PC".

NetEase added red banners to Wilderness, a mobile survivor game, bearing slogans such as "safeguard national security, safeguard world peace".
