The Italian court process allows for multiple appeals and it was reported that his sentence will be put on hold until the process has run its course. Even if the former Milan player loses the appeal, he would still have to extradited to serve prison time in Italy.

Robinho was also accused of sexual assault in London in 2009 while at Manchester City but was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Robinho moved to Europe amid much hype in 2005 when he joined Real Madrid from Santos.
