Gujarat polls: Patidars accept Congress' quota formula, but will the courts agree?

Solanki is alleged to have played spoil-sport to the pact between the two outfits.

It was only after the Congress accommodated as many as five of the 89 candidates in the first phase of polls that Hardik Patel made a decision to back Congress.

The Patidar leader has said the Congress will include the extension of reservation benefit to Patidars in its election manifesto.

He is also reported to have staged protest in front of Solanki's residence.

Sagar Savalia, who ran the "Vikas Gando Thayo Chhe" (development has gone crazy) campaign against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Gujarat, attacked Hardik Patel for diverting his attention from Patidar reservation to electoral politics.

Later in the night, he informed that the rally has been cancelled.

While Hardik Patel refrained from lending open support for Congress in the upcoming Gujarat assembly election, he vowed to fight against BJP. Meanwhile, PASS also seems heading for a vertical split with a group charging Banmbhaniya of hobnobbing with the BJP and the NCP.

Argentina squander two-goal lead and lose to Nigeria
64-year-old Rohr, whose 3-5-2 formation against the South American giants appeared to work out fine, praised his boys for their "great team spirit" and strong determination during the game.

The Supreme Court ruled in a landmark case in 1992 (Indra Sawhney etc vs Union Of India And Others) that the total reservation including SC, ST and OBC quotas has to stay within the 50 percent limit to balance reservation against the principle of equality for every citizen as enshrined in Article 14 and clause 1 of Article 16.

Citing various Supreme Court judgements, the BJP leader said it was not possible to exceed the cap set by the apex court.

Mr. Patel, however, refrained from pledging his support to Congress.

Comprising 12% of Gujarat's population and with potential influence over 60-odd of the state's 182 assembly seats, Patels have traditionally voted for the BJP but are angry over being denied quotas in jobs and education.

However, Patel has told the media that PAAS was not looking for tickets from Congress and rather wanted to focus on the reservation issue. "So directly or indirectly, there will be support to Congress", he said. "The Congress-Hardik club is one of mutual deception".

Patel said Congress and Hardik Patel described others as imprudent but people know the veracity.

Gujarat Assembly Elections turn out with big news that Patidars has agreed to Congress quota formula. We had just asked them to give tickets to good candidates. We thank him that they (PAAS) have joined us with an ideology to contest the election by coming together.
