Lewis Hamilton lashes out at F1 management after robbery in Brazil

Armed robbers have held up a Mercedes Formula One team minibus outside the Brazilian Grand Prix circuit in Sao Paulo on Friday night (local time) but nobody was hurt, a spokesman says.

Lewis Hamilton crashed heavily into the barriers on his first flying lap in Saturday's qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Kimi Raikkonen took third for Ferrari, half a second back from Hamilton at the head of the field, with the Red Bull duo of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo following in P4 and P5 respectively.

Two weeks on from clinching his fourth F1 title in Mexico, Hamilton showed few signs of letting up at the front of the pack by laying down a blistering pace through FP1, heading up a one-two finish for Mercedes as teammate Valtteri Bottas finished in second place.

Hamilton called on Formula One and the teams to "do more". "First of all I'm happy everyone is in one piece and nothing physical happened to anyone but it was a pretty bad situation to be in, and I'm happy everybody is still here".
