Ziegler contends that the allegations against Moore are unlikely to impact his political run as he never had "sexual intercourse" with the 14-year-old girl in question, their relationship "happened nearly 40 years ago", and finally, "Moore fell in love with one of the younger women", namely his wife Kayla.

A report in in The Washington Post this week said Moore, 70, engaged in sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl more than three decades ago when he was an attorney in a small Alabama town. The younger Moore also said "he's very concerned about what the impact is going to be on their 91-year-old mother, hearing all of this, they worry about her age and health", Savidge said.

Moore has called the allegations "fake news".

The question this poll can not really answer is the level of detail about the allegations against Moore that voters absorbed the day they were released - presumably not a lot of Alabamians read the Washington Post - and whether the sheer creepiness of Moore's reported conduct came through.

The NRSC and RNC did not immediately respond to CNN's request for comment Friday.

Then there is the fact that the widespread condemnation of Moore among GOP senators is not entirely shared by Alabama Republicans.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday that the claims were "deeply troubling" and that Mr. Moore should not be in the Senate if they turn out to be true.

It remains to be see whether Thursday's allegations can buoy Jones' long-shot bid, which would represent a major upset for Democrats and narrow Republicans' current edge in the Senate.

Patriots Claim Tight End Bennett Off Waivers
On Wednesday, Bennett was suddenly cut from the Packers with the designation of failing to disclose an injury to the team. Last month, Bennett posted on Instagram that he was "pretty sure" he would retire at the end of the 2017 season.

The investments by the Duchy of Lancaster emerged after the leak of a massive cache of documents being dubbed the Paradise Papers. A spokesman for the estate said: "We operate a number of investments and a few of these are with overseas funds".

Kane resumes training ahead of Real Madrid clash
We feel very confident going into the game, in a good, or not good form, and I think that Real are quality. Kane sat out their 1-0 defeat at Manchester United with a hamstring problem.

Steven Law, the head of a McConnell-aligned super PAC that led an onslaught against Moore in the Republican runoff, did not wait for a guilty verdict before he excoriated Breitbart for "defending "consensual" sex between a 32-year-old and a 16-year-old".

Now party leaders expect new questions about the Moore accusations.

Alabama political strategist David Mowery, who has worked for candidates of both parties, said the chance of Moore bowing out of the race was "less than zero", and that it was nearly as improbable for state party officials to abandon him in favor of a last-minute write-in candidate. Moore has vehemently denied the allegation. (The seat is now filled by Luther Strange, who was appointed interim senator after Jeff Sessions was picked to be President Trump's attorney general.) Seven senators sit in the immediate vicinity, either in front, behind, or directly next to the seat. "He should immediately step aside and allow the people of Alabama to elect a candidate they can be proud of". That's what I mean when I say opposition party, right?

Jerry Moore firmly denied the allegations against his brother and drew an analogy between his situation and the persecution of Jesus Christ, Savidge reported Friday in an interview with CNN's John Berman.

The revelations have produced a wave of concern among anxious Republican officials in Washington but little more than a collective shrug from many Republicans in Alabama, which holds a special election on December 12 to fill the seat previously held by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Richard Shelby, the dean of the state's congressional delegation, told reporters in Washington that if the charges were accurate "he wouldn't belong in the Senate". Should state law be changed to keep Moore from the Senate? They did not have sexual intercourse, according to the report.

But any write-in campaign would be an uphill battle and end up splitting the GOP vote, making it easier for Democrat Doug Jones to win in an upset.

In the face of that stand-and-fight mentality by Moore, Republicans in Washington are left with a handful of bad - and likely ineffective - options.

Moore himself was suspended as chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court in 2016 after refusing to comply with the Supreme Court's gay marriage ruling.
