Jared Leto's "Blade Runner 2049" character in a short film, titled "Nexus: 2036". As you'll see, he has a striking (and bloody) way of showing them how the new replicants operate. Wallace comes to prove the law's folly by bringing his own creation: A seemingly obedient replicant that will never rebel, but still feels pain. Not only does he have to weave a brand new story, but he has to explain what happened in the thirty years after the events of the first film.

Now thanks to Collider, we can further explore the year 2036, when Niander Wallace unexpectedly introduced his new (and then illegal) line of "Nexus 9" Replicants. Many blamed replicants, which at this point had been developed into the Nexus 6, robots with longer lifespans.

According to a Comic-Con teaser video and the movie's website, in 2022 the United States was crippled by a rolling blackout when a massive EMP detonated on the West Coast and replicants were blamed for it.

The new short film takes place in the year 2036.

From executive producer Ridley Scott and director Denis Villeneuve, Blade Runner 2049 stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana De Armas, MacKenzie Davis, Sylvia Hoeks, Lennie James, Carla Juri, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista and Leto. Ryan Gosling also stars as an LAPD officer known as K alongside Jared Leto who will reprise his role as Niander.
