How to Watch OJ Simpson's Parole Hearing

A parole board on Thursday was considering whether to release O.J. Simpson after serving almost nine years of a 33-year-sentence for assault with a deadly weapon and armed robbery.

Simpson has been in prison in Nevada for the past nine years.

The four-person parole board will decide if Simpson is ready to re-enter society.

"We hear that he's got a pretty good life, as best as he can in prison, and that could easily be, because there has to be more protection for Mr. Simpson, based upon who he is and his celebrity status", Nichols said.

He and a group of five others stormed into a hotel room to confront two sports-memorabilia collectors and seize items that he claimed belonged to him from his career.

Although he was acquitted of the 1994 murders of ex-wife and her friend Ron Goldman, three years later Simpson lost a civil suit and had to pay out $33.5 million in damages after he was found guilty of the victims' wrongful deaths.

Their biggest challenge, says the sheriff, the sheer number of media from around the world descending on Nevada's small capital to watch as O.J. Simpson, once again, makes his case.

OJ, now 70, is currently in Lovelock Correctional Facility, a medium-security prison in Nevada.

The impending parole hearing that has been talked about heavily over the past few weeks is here and it all went down on Thursday.

"My crime was trying to retrieve for my family my own property", Simpson told parole officials in a 2013 hearing concerning lesser charges. Simpson was arrested in connection with the two murders and charged in the case.

"I've known OJ for a long time", said Mr Fromong.

"Simpson has stayed out of trouble there", said spokeswoman Brooke Keast told CNN. In one instance, Simpson was asked about conflicts he's had in his life. "I had no intent to commit a crime", Simpson said during his closing remarks.

"I guess, my age, guys come to me", he said four years ago. Former American football star O.J. Simpson has spent almost nine years in prison.
