Escaped Georgia inmates captured after foot chase in Middle Tennessee

The two men had been on the run since early Tuesday, when they are accused of having killed Sgt. Christopher Monica and Sgt. Curtis Billue.

Sills had described the fugitives as violent repeat offenders who are extremely risky, having taken the guards' 9 mm pistols.

And they're urging people to take care.

Jasper County Sheriff Chris Malphrus said law enforcement has received reports of two men matching the description of the escaped inmates from Georgia being spotted at a rest area at mile marker 17 on Interstate 95.

The escaped inmates left the vehicle and fled on foot in the area. By the time help arrived, they had vanished. The fugitives ditched the automobile and unsuccessfully fled on foot.

Sills said the prisoners stole clothes from the home they burglarized but also ransacked the home to such an extent that it was impossible to determine what clothes might have taken or which ones they might now be wearing.

Authorities put up roadblocks, only to discover Wednesday morning that the pickup had been stolen, from a site about 9 miles away from the burglary.

"We need the eyes and ears really of anybody in this country to be on the lookout", Sills said Thursday.

Jackson coached the Warriors for three seasons from 2011-14 and led the team into the postseason in each of his last two seasons. At this point it wouldn't be surprising to see Dominique Wilkins come out and say his Atlanta Hawks would dominate the Warriors.

Officials said Dubose, 24, is also a hardened criminal despite his relative youth, and a member of the notorious "Ghostface Gangsters" white supremacist group.

Rowe, 43, has been serving life without parole since 2002, and Dubose, 24, began a 20-year sentence in 2015.

They escaped Tuesday after overpowering the guards on a Baldwin State Prison bus.

Authorities say they have captured two escaped inmates wanted in the slayings of two Georgia prison guards.

Corrections officials have not said how the pair managed to get through the normally locked door of the inmate compartment. The other prisoners on the bus, Sills said, "did not visibly participate" in the escape. "I can't tell you how the gate got open". Keenan added that shots were fired but no one was wounded.

Monica, 42, and Billue, 58, were both transfer sergeants at Baldwin State Prison.

"Both officers were known for their unwavering commitment to their job and their love of family", the Georgia Department of Corrections said in a statement.

Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Greg Dozier said in a news release that the pair "will be brought to justice swiftly for their heinous crime against our Officers". And on Thursday, with the trail cold, Georgia increased the reward for information leading to their capture to $130,000 as the scope of the manhunt expands.
