Apple limiting how many review pop-ups apps can show

Top Charts had a ripple effect on the increasing popularity of featured apps or viral apps therefore demoting it to a second click will impact burst campaigns that developers did for user acquisition and may even dilute the effect of charts induced virality. Putting aside the fact that there are dozens of free alternatives (and Apple plans to add QR code scanning to its camera in iOS 11), a free trial doesn't sound so bad, right? Lin's piece specifically hones in on an app called Mobile protection:Clean & Security VPN.

Apple will impose limits on how many times apps may present a pop-up to ask you to review them on the App Store, 9to5Mac reported.

As for Apple's role in the app business, Schiller said the release of iOS 10 last fall helped create new opportunities - from giving a friend a Starbucks gift card using Apple Pay to collaborating on a fashion design sketch using Prêt à Template.

As a final point, John Gruber over at Daring Fireball makes a good point, noting: "There should be no "virus and malware" scanners in the App Store".

The updated terms for Apple's App Store now classifies in-app tips under the same category as in-app purchases, legalizing tips that users wish to send to app developers.

Gruber argued that Apple needs to reassess "the effects of allowing developers to buy their way to the top spot in search results".

It suddenly made a lot of sense how this app generates $80,000 a month. And this isn't just happening with security related keywords.

Fixing its subscriptions requires much more than banning some keywords, though. To earn that amount the app would only need around 200 subscribers.

With the new cards design, the real estate in the App store seems to have reduced leaving just 1-2 apps to be seen by consumers in the first look, instead of 8-9 in the old design indicating that it will be more tougher to get featured but the impact of being featured will be magnified.

For Apple, the tipping is not encouragement for content creators, rather the same as the purchase of game, music and video, which should be classified as in-app purchase, and Apple can take 30 percent as commission.

And perhaps more importantly, their subscription fees start from $4.54 per month; around 1/20 of the fee for this scam app on the US App Store.

Either way, for developers who have little to no sense of morality, this represents a pretty easy way to make a quick million.
