Breaking Twitter Silence, Trump Sees Lies, Vindication in 'Leaker' Comey's Testimony

Asked why he tweeted earlier today he felt "completely vindicated" by Comey's testimony, Trump responded: "No collusion, no obstruction; he's a leaker". Trump tweeted in his first comments since the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Thursday.

One was that he thinks of President Donald Trump as a liar, and anxious about his propensity to lie.

Trump had fired Comey on May 9, in a move suspected by many as an attempt to put curbs on an ongoing investigation into White House officials.

Trump said he would be happy to testify under oath that he had not told Comey he expected loyalty from him, and had not pressed Comey to end the FBI's investigation of former National Security advisor Michael Flynn.

The leaks referred to, which the president's personal lawyer is aiming to have investigated, are the release of memos made by Comey that documented his unusually frequent conversations with the president. Dershowitz went on to say that even if we don't like the President having that authority, he has that power and you can't turn a Constitutional power into a criminal act.

"He had repeatedly told me I was doing a great job and he hoped I would stay", Comey said.

Under oath, the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director also told the Senate Intelligence Committee that the president had asked him during a one-one dinner at the White House to pledge loyalty.

Mr Trump's private attorney, Marc Kasowitz, seized on Mr Comey's admission that he had told Mr Trump on multiple occasions that he was not personally under investigation.

"I hardly know the man", Trump said on Friday.

Comey said it should be special counsel Robert Mueller's task to determine whether Trump had obstructed justice, and therefore, had opened himself up to possible impeachment proceedings, keeping the allegations on Russian Federation in mind.

During nearly three hours of frank statements on Thursday, Comey described himself as "stunned" by Trump's "very disturbing" and "very concerning" behavior in several meetings.

He further denied ever asking Mr Comey for his "loyalty", contradicting Mr Comey's detailed sworn testimony about a private dinner the two men had in the White House.

Former Director of Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) James Comey said Thursday that he was confused over the circumstances under which he was sacked. "Mr. Comey has now admitted that he is one of the leakers". "I woke up in the middle of the night on Monday night because it didn't dawn on me originally, that there might be corroboration for our conversation", Comey said.

In a subsequent tweet, Trump congratulated friendly conservative media.
