Frat member told 911: 'We have a friend who's unconscious'

Pennsylvania State University fraternity brother Kordel Davis is speaking out after 18 of his fellow brothers were charged in connection with the death three months ago of Beta Theta Pi pledge Timothy Piazza during a pledge ceremony.

Doctors have estimated his blood-alcohol level at one point reached nearly.40 percent, a unsafe level.

Davis said that he voiced concerns to his frat brothers but failed to call 911 because senior members of the group convinced him that he was overreacting.

Eight more defendants in the Beta Theta Pi hazing death case at Penn State have been scheduled to appear in Centre County court for arraignment Tuesday afternoon. They then ran to and from drinking stations where they drank wine from a bag or shotgunned beer. All of the pledges were under the legal drinking age. Piazza died two days later.

"The early findings of that investigation indicated that the behavior of several undergraduate members was in direct contradiction of the International Fraternity's expectations and risk management policies, as well as the International Fraternity's reputation and commitment to character development".

Piazza regains consciousness and is seen grabbing his abdomen, staggering and falling, prosecutors say surveillance video shows.

"The gantlet" was created to make pledges consume roughly four to five alcoholic drinks in a two-minute span, police say.

Eighteen members of a now-shuttered Penn State University fraternity and the fraternity itself are facing charges in the death of a student who fell down a flight of steps during an alcohol-fueled pledge night.

Pakistani, Afghan Military Officials Agree To Defuse Border Tension
Asif warned that Pakistan would respond "fittingly" to Afghanistan if any further violations were committed along the border. It said that in the first two months of 2017, 807 personnel of Afghan security forces had been killed and 1,328 injured.

While Olynyk pleaded his case to the referee, Oubre got up off the floor. "We're still down one, still down in the series". The Rockets had been killed on the offensive glass the last couple games and that slowed down their attack.

UN Describes Astana Memorandum on Syrian Conflict as Positive
Analysts say that Moscow could be pushing the Assad regime to de-escalate the conflict and agree to the plan. Russia's plan for "de-escalation" zones was backed by Iran at the Kazakhstan talks.

Weeks before the fraternity hosted the fateful bid acceptance ritual, Young and Casey had a text conversation about the risks posed by their plans.

"I said, 'He needs to be at the hospital right now.' I said, 'We should call 911". Ed Gilmartin, Ryan McCann, Lucas Rockwell, Braxton Becker and Ryan Foster are each charged with tampering with evidence.

"In honor of our son, we are committed to doing everything that we can to ensure that no other parents will have to go through the pain and grief we are now experiencing", said Jim Piazza, Timothy Piazza's father.

Michael Angelo Schiavone and Lars Kenyon face the most charges, the release said, each with 52 counts ranging from reckless endangerment, hazing, furnishing alcohol to minors and unlawful acts relative to liquor.

The grand jury said it had learned numerous members were both aware of the risks of excessive drinking and certain that Piazza's injuries would be seen as the result of hazing at the fraternity. "These brothers gathered around Timothy, where some of them described that he looked dead, and they waited over 40 minutes before they called for help while some of them Googled things like, 'what to do w a head injury'".

The details in the grand jury documents are "heart-wrenching and incomprehensible", Penn State President Eric Barron said Friday, saying Piazza had endured "inhumane treatment" at the fraternity's hands.

Barron says it's "numbing" to see that a unsafe atmosphere could occur at a fraternity that prided itself on commitment to each other and the community. Hours later, he again fell, hitting his head off a stone floor. That fall occurred just before 5 a.m.
