After reports had suggested that Barcelona had won the race to sign him last month, Real Madrid have reportedly beaten their rivals to the signing of highly rated left-back Theo Hernandez. Real Madrid and Liverpool are also interested in landing the French under-20 defender.

The Frenchman, who is on loan from Atletico Madrid, has been absolutely fantastic all season long, leading to rumours of a high-profile transfer.

Alaves have also shocked everyone with their progression into the final of the Copa Del Rey, and Hernandez has, again, played a key role in their cup campaign. And in what has been a remarkable season for the minnows, the 19-year-old has been one of the many success stories.

Both teams are in the market for a left-back, with Real Madrid looking for a rotation-piece behind Marcelo and Barça looking to potentially replace Jordi Alba.
