Atletico starlet Theo Hernandez 'passes Real Madrid medical'

After reports had suggested that Barcelona had won the race to sign him last month, Real Madrid have reportedly beaten their rivals to the signing of highly rated left-back Theo Hernandez. Real Madrid and Liverpool are also interested in landing the French under-20 defender.

The Frenchman, who is on loan from Atletico Madrid, has been absolutely fantastic all season long, leading to rumours of a high-profile transfer.

Alaves have also shocked everyone with their progression into the final of the Copa Del Rey, and Hernandez has, again, played a key role in their cup campaign. And in what has been a remarkable season for the minnows, the 19-year-old has been one of the many success stories.

Both teams are in the market for a left-back, with Real Madrid looking for a rotation-piece behind Marcelo and Barça looking to potentially replace Jordi Alba.

While Hernandez's buy-out clause was valued at $26 million, the reigning Champions League holders will reportedly pay $32 million to land their man.

Alaves meanwhile published a statement on the club website stating they knew nothing about Theo's Real Madrid medical and did not know where the player was.
