Sheriff: 'Bachelor' star refused to answer door after crash

From the initial accident to the 911 call to the former Bachelor star's arrest, ET's breaking down everything we know so far about what happened.

A spokesman for the Buchanan County, Iowa, Sheriff's Office tells PEOPLE that after the accident, Soules, 35, walked away from the scene and started heading north. He is accused of not immediately stopping his vehicle at the scene and failing to return and remain at the scene of the crash, according to a police report.

Soules is charged with leaving the scene of a deadly accident after Monday night's crash near his farm in northern Iowa that killed 66-year-old Kenneth Mosher. Court records show that Soules has had some driving infractions in the past, including a 2006 conviction for operating while intoxicated. This time, Soules made a distressed call to 911 before fleeing the scene.

The called ended abruptly after the operator told Soules law enforcement and medical first responders were on the way.

Soules makes initial call to 911. And when the operator asked him, "Chris, do you know how to do CPR?"

Greenville Co. Schools say Mauldin High School say they were on partial lockdown as a precaution on the advice of Mauldin Police.

Soules was released after he posted a $10,000 (£7,790) bail bond.

Officers have searched for him and he was in no point of cooperating with the law enforcers with the investigation.

At 1:30 a.m., the deputies obtained an arrest warrant and Soules was taken into custody.

"Chris Soules was involved in an accident Monday evening (April 24) in a rural part of Iowa near his home".

Police have not revealed the official charges pending against Soules, but his history of fleeing the scene will not work in his favor. "Chris has a location-monitoring device on his leg and had to surrender his passport", a source exclusively told Us Weekly, adding that it was because he previously "had plans to leave the country" before the incident. Investigators spoke to multiple witnesses and determined that Soules caused the crash and left the scene, according to a complaint, which doesn't name the witnesses. "His thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Mosher's family", said his lawyers in a statement provided to the media.
