The suspect, Angel Cordero Ortiz, was taken into custody Friday night in Worcester, WCBV-5 reported.

The New York Post reports that Marcotte was visiting her mum in Princeton, Massachusetts, in August when she went out for a job and was killed. There were also signs that she had struggled with her attacker.

Sources said Ortiz was being held at the State Police barracks in Millbury, and is due to be arraigned on Tuesday.

Sources confirmed the arrest earlier in the day. DNA from a possible suspect was obtained during Marcotte's autopsy, and on Friday, state police learned of a DNA match.

Although Ortiz has not been formally charged with murder yet, Early said he anticipates a murder charge soon, and referenced Ortiz as Marcotte's "killer". There is evidence he was in the Princeton area at the time of the murder, but Early declined to go into details.

Marcotte, a 27-year-old former Google employee, was killed while jogging near her mother's house on August 7, 2016.

"Vanessa Marcotte was a much loved member of the Google team, working in our NY office for the past year and a half, and known for her ubiquitous smile, passion for volunteer work, and love of Boston sports", a Google spokesperson said.

Her body was found in a remote, wooded area a half mile away later that evening. She had been sexually assaulted and her hands, feet and head were burned.

The DA said that they have received more than 1,300 tips in the case, which has helped put together the suspect description.
