Eman Ahmed was reputed to be the heaviest person in the world at 500kg or 1,102 pounds of body weight. Eman has suffered from different medical conditions throughout her entire life, after she was diagnosed with elephantiasis when she was a child.

Lakdawala in Delhi responded and offered to help reduce Eman's weight. The video, taken on Thursday (two days after the surgery), is proof that she's inching closer to that dream.

The venture was fraught with difficulties from the start. She had flown to Mumbai in a specially modified Airbus last month for treatment. First, her visa request was denied, and she was only granted passage after the direct intervention of India's foreign minister.

Eman had issues getting to India, as well.

But despite the hardships and roadblocks, for the Ahmed family, the opportunity for the 36-year-old to travel to India and have the surgery was a ray of light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

Eman's sister approached doctors in India in October 2016 stating that Abd El Aty needed urgent medical attention.
